ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – Paula Creamer was inspired playing the Old Course.

She moved up a crowded leaderboard with a bogey-free 4-under-par 68 Thursday at the Ricoh Women’s British Open. She says St. Andrews motivates her.

“Just being the home of golf, and all the history that’s happened, and just to kind of walk these fairways, where the greatest players have ever played, it’s humbling and exciting,” Creamer said. “At the same time, you want to do well and be in contention on Sunday.”

Morgan Pressel and Camilla Lennarth shot 66 to lead after the first round with Creamer just two shots back.

Creamer, winner of the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open, has a history of playing well in the Women’s British Open. She finished third last year at Royal Liverpool. She tied for third in ’09 at Royal Lytham & St. Annes. Overall, she has four top-10 finishes in the Women’s British Open.
