JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – Although it seems officials set Atlanta Athletic Club up for speed for Sunday’s final round, with the Highland Course playing the shortest it has all week, it hasn’t exactly become a birdie-fest.
Already on Sunday 16 sub-par rounds have been posted, compared to 25 on Day 3. But don’t be fooled by the apparent ease of play.
“It’s tough,” said Gary Woodland, who closed with a 68. “The wind was blowing a little bit more, enough where you really had to think about it, and the pins were obviously tucked for Sunday.”
Exhibit A would seem to be Sergio Garcia who birdied Nos. 16 and 17 only to splash two shots into the water at the 18th hole and taking double bogey.
