PITTSFORD, N.Y. – For nine holes on Friday at the PGA Championship Justin Rose didn’t feel like himself, but then that’s been the case, to one degree or another, since he hoisted major glory in June at the U.S. Open.
Slowly, however, he’s beginning to feel like himself, like when he started his closing nine (he began Round 2 on No. 10) with three consecutive birdies. By the time he closed his round of 66 with back-to-back birdies he looked like the old Merion Rosie.

“Since Merion I’ve been trying to get back to being myself,” Rose said. “I sit here today relishing the opportunity to win another major with no trepidation, which may not have been the case a few years ago.”
Rose’s 66 left him at 6 under, one stroke behind early leader Adam Scott.
