Snedeker supports Japan relief effort

Brandt Snedeker will donate $500 for each birdie he makes this week at the Transitions Championship to the American Red Cross-Japanese Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Relief Fund, following Ryuji Imada’s lead in helping the victims of last week’s tragedy.

“Ryuji started this and I really thought it was a great idea,” said Snedeker, whose donations will be matched by Bridgestone Golf. “What the people of Japan are going through is awful and I am really lucky to have a partner like Bridgestone Golf join in supporting the relief effort.”

Imada donated $1,000 for every birdie he made in Tampa and sent out a letter to his fellow competitors asking them to make similar pledges. The Japanese native missed the cut after rounds of 74-75 and had two birdies.

Through two rounds at Innisbrook Snedeker has made eight birdies and is currently tied for 11th.
