PITTSFORD, N.Y. – For the second time in three majors Tiger Woods has failed to break par through two rounds, a fact aggravated by an Oak Hill layout that gave up a course-record round and 28 sub-par totals through two days.
Woods played the par 5s in even par for the second consecutive day and bogeyed the 18th hole for a 70 that left him tied for 39th at 1 over, 10 strokes out of the lead.
The world No. 1 clawed his way back to even par for the tournament with back-to-back birdies at Nos. 5 and 6, but took 32 putts, which ranked 125th in the field.

The round continued Woods’ struggles at Oak Hill. In 2003 when the PGA Championship was last played at the upstate New York course he opened with rounds of 74-72, never broke par and tied for 39th.
