Louis Oosthuizen hated his opening tee shot as soon as it left his club.

But more than two minutes later – and 500 yards from the tee box – it finally came to rest.

That’s right, the 2010 British Open champion uncorked a 500-yard (give or take a few yards) drive during the second round of the European Tour’s Ballantine’s Championship in South Korea.

OK, so it wasn’t bounding down the fairway.

Instead, it caught the cart path running down the right-hand side of the hole, and then, like a marble down a hallway, just kept going, and going, and going … until finally stopping just a short wedge away on the 583-yard hole. (Note the oblivious spectators.) Incredibly, he didn’t even birdie the par 5.

Phil Mickelson owns the longest drive of the season on the PGA Tour – a cart-path-aided 450-yarder at Doral.
