PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Time flies when you’re having fun. Or, if you’re Matt Kuchar, when you return to The Players as the defending champion.

‘It’s hard to believe it’s been a year,’ Kuchar said. ‘The memory is so fresh and so vivid. ... Maybe it’s just having those memories so much more vivid from winning makes it seem like it was a couple weeks ago that you last won.’

Kuchar enters this week hoping to be the first player to repeat at The Players.

‘I don’t think that this is necessarily a curse that nobody’s defended the title here. It’s just kind of one of those stats you pull out, and I’d like to be the first guy that is able to repeat.’

Since Kuchar’s victory last year at TPC Sawgrass, he’s recorded eight top-10 finishes on Tour including his victory at the WGC-Accenture Match Play in February. He’s also coming off a T-8 at the Masters.
