NCAA golf: Conference championship schedule, results, recaps

The road to Omni La Costa is heating up.

Conference championships are now underway as men’s and women’s teams battle for automatic bids into the NCAA postseason, which consists of six, 54-hole regionals featuring a combined 29 conference champions and 43 at-large teams for the women and 28 conference winners and 53 at-larges for the men.

We’ll track all of the conference championships below:

Men

ACC

April 24-28, The Club at Olde Stone, Alvaton, Kentucky

Final results

Team champion: Virginia (beat North Carolina, 3-2)

Individual champion: Jacob Modleski, Notre Dame

Potential at-large teams: Florida State, North Carolina, Duke, SMU, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Notre Dame, Stanford, Wake Forest, Cal, North Carolina State

Need to know: After five runner-up finishes and no ACC titles since the first ACC Championship was contested in 1954, Virginia finally got its first conference title with a 3-2 win over North Carolina in the match-play final. The Cavaliers also won the stroke-play portion by seven shots over the Tar Heels, who got a T-9 and three match wins from its Player of the Year favorite David Ford. Virginia’s Deven Patel also went 3-0 in match play, including in the semifinals, where he rallied from 4 down after nine to win his point. Florida State rose six spots on the final day, tying for third with Clemson, which fell just shy of finishing at .500 or better; the Tigers’ record streak of 35 straight NCAA regionals, which they share with Oklahoma State, ends. Modleski is Notre Dame’s 12th conference medalist and first since 2012.

Big East

April 26-28, Callawassie Island Club, Okatie, South Carolina

Final results

Team champion: Marquette

Individual champion: Alex Heard, Connecticut

Potential at-large teams: None

Need to know: Marquette was already in line for an at-large bid, but the Golden Eagles pulled away from Xavier for an 11-shot win and the program’s sixth Big East title, fourth on this golf course. It’s just the second time in the last five years, however, that Marquette will advance to an NCAA regional. Heard medaled by six shots.

Big Ten

April 25-27, Baltimore CC, Timonium, Maryland

Final results

Team champion: UCLA

Individual champion: Omar Morales, UCLA

Potential at-large teams: Illinois, Northwestern, Oregon, Purdue, USC, Michigan State

Need to know: After starting the final round eight shots off the lead, the Bruins climbed three spots in difficult scoring conditions (up to 35 mph wind gusts) to beat Illinois by a shot. It’s UCLA’s first conference title since it won the Pac-10 in 2006, and the Bruins will head to NCAA regionals for the second straight season after missing three straight postseasons. UCLA has not advanced to the NCAA Championship since 2018. Illinois had not lost consecutive Big Ten Championships since 2008. Indiana fell five spots to eighth on the final day, otherwise the Hoosiers could’ve played their way into an at-large bid. Michigan was on the bubble until a 15th-place finish dropped the Wolverines to No. 75 in the rankings.

resize (20).webp

Ivy League

April 25-27, Rolling Green GC, Springfield, Pennsylvania

Final results

Team champion: Princeton

Individual champion: Riccardo Fantinelli, Princeton

Potential at-large teams: None

Need to know: The Tigers won by 17 shots over Columbia. It’s the program’s 27th overall Ivy crown and second in the last three years.

Mountain West

April 25-27, Emerald Valley GC, Creswell, Oregon

Final results

Team champion: San Diego State

Individual champion: Justin Hastings, San Diego State

Potential at-large teams: UNLV, New Mexico, Colorado State

Need to know: It was a dominating 23-shot win by the favorite, San Diego State, which became the second program in conference history to win four straight Mountain West titles, joining New Mexico (2003-06). Hastings’ win was his fourth career individual title, putting him one win shy of tying J.J. Spaun and Lennie Clements for the school record.

convert (11).webp

Patriot League

April 25-27, Bucknell GC, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania

Final results

Team champion: Loyola (Maryland)

Individual champion: Nolan Schuermann, Holy Cross

Potential at-large teams: None

April 25-27, Green Valley CC, Fairfield, California

Final results

Team champion: Pepperdine (beat Loyola Marymount, 4-1)

Individual champion: Mahanth Chirravuri, Pepperdine

Potential at-large teams: Santa Clara, Pacific

Need to know: Pepperdine knocked off Loyola Marymount in the final to win its first West Coast title since 2022, though 23rd overall. Last year, the Waves snapped a streak of eight straight NCAA regional appearances after finishing below .500. This year, it was Loyola finishing under .500.

WAC_CHAMPIONSHIP_DAY_04_27_25_052.jpeg

WAC

April 25-27, Chaparral Pines GC, Payson, Arizona

Final results

Team champion: Seattle

Individual champion: Dane Huddleston, Utah Valley (won in playoff)

Potential at-large teams: Grand Canyon

Need to know: Seattle, ranked 142nd in the country, pulled off the upset of No. 54 Grand Canyon, winning by three shots. This will be Seattle’s first NCAA regional since 2017 and just its second ever. Huddleston, ranked in the top 60 nationally, beat Seattle’s Kevin Li in two extra holes for his fifth individual victory of the season.

Gpj1e7NWIAA7vyr.jpeg

SEC

April 23-27, Sea Island GC, St. Simons Island, Georgia

Final results

Team champion: Florida (beat Texas A&M, 4-1)

Individual champion: Jackson Koivun, Auburn

Potential at-large teams: Auburn, Texas, Ole Miss, LSU, Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Georgia, Arkansas, Kentucky

Need to know: Florida took down No. 6 Oklahoma and No. 2 Auburn, which won stroke play by nine shots over LSU, in match play before making quick work of the Aggies in the final for their 17th SEC title in program history. Luke Poulter and Zack Swanwick each went 3-0 for the Gators this week. Koivun birdied five of his last six holes to beat Oklahoma’s Drew Goodman by a shot and become the first back-to-back SEC champion since 1976. Top-ranked Ole Miss was a surprise exclusion from match play, as the Rebels finished 10th and will surely drop in the rankings. LSU could climb into a No. 1 regional seed, potentially bumping Oklahoma to the No. 2 line. The SEC will get at least 14 of 16 teams into the NCAA postseason while Kentucky is currently right on the bubble, but may drop outside the number after a 15th-place finish here.

resize (19).webp

Northeast

April 24-26, Kingsmill Resort, Williamsburg, Virginia

Final results

Team champion: Howard

Individual champion: Pyae Phyo Thu, Fairleigh Dickinson

Potential at-large teams: None

Need to know: The Bison are heading to a second straight NCAA regional with their two-shot win over Long Island, which led by seven through 36 holes.

resize (17).webp

Sun Belt

April 21-24, Annandale GC, Madison, Mississippi

Final results

Team champion: Coastal Carolina (beat Arkansas State, 3-2)

Individual champion: Jack Maxey, Arkansas State (won in playoff)

Potential at-large teams: Troy

Need to know: Coastal Carolina won stroke play by a shot before taking down Arkansas State in the final match, which was clinched by Jack Lee’s birdie putt on the first extra hole of his match. This will Coastal’s 13th NCAA regional appearance but first since 2018. Maxey defeated Louisiana’s Eli Ortego on the third playoff hole to earn the individual AQ. Louisiana finished seventh to drop out of the top 70 in the rankings, meaning it season is likely over.

resize (18).webp

Conference USA

April 21-24, Texarkana CC, Texarkana, Arkansas

Final results

Team champion: Sam Houston (beat UTEP, 3.5-1.5)

Individual champion: Aidan Thomas, New Mexico State

Potential at-large teams: New Mexico State, Kennesaw State

Need to know: Sam Houston was on the bubble for an at-large NCAA regional bid until it won its first CUSA title in its second season in the league. The Bearkats will now head to regionals for the first time since 2021, when they went on to qualify for the program’s first NCAA Championship. Liberty needed to win to qualify for regionals, where it is one of six hosts, but the Flames fell to UTEP in the semifinals. Kennesaw climbed to No. 67 in the rankings and will be sweating out the next few days to see if they can grab one of the final at-large bids.

convert (10).webp

Atlantic Sun

April 22-24, Kinderlou Forest GC, Valdosta, Georgia

Final results

Team champion: Central Arkansas

Individual champion: Gaspar Glaudas, Stetson

Potential at-large teams: Florida Gulf Coast

Need to know: Central Arkansas started the year with zero returning rounds, but with a grad assistant as its interim head coach, the 162nd-ranked Bears won the program’s first ASUN title and first conference crown since 1972 to punch their first-ever NCAA regionals ticket. Stetson finished second by a shot while FGCU was third and should still advance to its second regional in three years as an at-large.

April 22-24, Grand Cypress GC, Orlando, Florida

Final results

Team champion: Davidson

Individual champion: Ben Cors, Dayton

Potential at-large teams: None

Need to know: The Wildcats trailed Richmond by as much as nine shots on the back nine before their counting scorers played the final four holes in a combined 7 under to edge the Spiders by a shot. It’s Davidson’s fifth A-10 title in the last seven seasons.

GpVB9nXWUAA7dcT.jpeg

Big 12

April 22-24, Southern Hills CC, Tulsa, Oklahoma

Final results

Team champion: Oklahoma State

Individual champion: Preston Stout, Oklahoma State

Potential at-large teams: Arizona State, Utah, Texas Tech, Arizona, Colorado, BYU, Houston, Kansas, TCU, Kansas State

Need to know: This is Oklahoma State’s first Big 12 title since 2021 and Stout’s second straight Big 12 medal, as the sophomore joins only Ludvig Aberg and Morgan Hoffmann as repeat Big 12 individual champions. The Big 12 will probably get 11 schools into NCAA regionals, including TCU, Colorado and Kansas State, which all missed regionals last year. Iowa State entered Big 12s ranked No. 65 and in position for an at-large regional bid, but a last-place showing here drops them to No. 74, where they likely are out.

convert (9).webp

Ohio Valley

April 20-23, Dalhousie GC, Cape Girardeau, Missouri

Final results

Team champion: Little Rock (beat Tennessee-Martin, 3-2)

Individual champion: Jonathan Xoinis, Tennessee-Martin, and Rhett South, Little Rock

Potential at-large teams: None

Need to know: Little Rock’s second OVC title in three years keeps the magic number from falling. This one all came down to Matteo Cristoni, who trailed Tennessee-Martin’s Jackson Twerdahl 1 down with two holes to play before Twerdahl hit his tee shot in the penalty area on the penultimate hole and Cristoni got up and down on the last, holing a 10-footer for the win. Little Rock has now made NCAA regionals in four of the past five seasons.

Team_Celebration.jpeg

Big South

April 21-23, Ocean Creek GC, St. Helena Island, South Carolina

Final results

Team champion: USC Upstate (beat Charleston Southern, 3-2)

Individual champion: Jeep Patrick, Presbyterian

Potential at-large teams: None

Need to know: Jaskaran Sohal birdied each of his final two holes to rally from 2 down and force extras, and he then birdied the first hole of overtime to earn the decisive point for USC Upstate in a 3-2 victory over Charleston Southern in the Big South final. USC Upstate finished nine shots behind Charleston Southern in stroke play, but it now heads to regionals for the first time after its maiden conference crown. Patrick opened in 63 to become the first freshman since 2015 to win the Big South individual title.

resize (16).webp

Final results

Team champion: Augusta

Individual champion: Bo Blanchard, Augusta

Potential at-large teams: None

GpQGm1wW4AA2CDE.jpeg

American

April 21-23, The Ritz-Carlton GC, Sarasota, Florida

Final results

Team champion: Charlotte (won in playoff)

Individual champion: Jake Peacock, South Florida

Potential at-large teams: South Florida

Need to know: Both Charlotte and South Florida were qualifying for NCAA regionals regardless, but it was the 49ers doing so as the American Athletic Conference champs after prevailing in a two-hole playoff. Charlotte snapped a run of three straight regional appearances last year but will now start a new streak after winning its first AAC title and third conference crown in four years. Peacock won the individual title for the second straight year, the first two-time conference champion in school history. USF will head to regionals for the 11th time in the last 12 seasons.

GpKreVcWgAAnEnS.jpeg

Coastal Athletic Association

April 20-22, Union League National GC, Swainton, New Jersey

Final results

Team champion: Elon (won in playoff)

Individual champion: Henric Bjelke, Campbell

Potential at-large teams: College of Charleston

Need to know: Drexel played the last two holes of regulation in 6 under, capped by Griffin Mitchell’s eagle at the par-5 18th, to force a playoff with Elon, the first time the CAA Championship had gone to extras since 2009. Things got even more exciting in overtime as Elon got eagles from Jack Wieler and Garrett Risner, who chipped in for his, to oust Drexel, 4 under to 2 under. It’s Elon’s first conference title at the D-I level, first NCAA regional bid and first conference crown of any kind since 1994. The Phoenix’s win is a probable bid-stealer, too, as College of Charleston was ranked 58th prior to finishing fourth and now at No. 64 is still in position for an at-large, though the magic number is shrinking. Drexel, which only moved to No. 162 in the rankings, needed the AQ to keep its season going.

convert (8).webp

SoCon

April 20-22, Reynolds Lake Oconee, Greensboro, Georgia

Final results

Team champion: East Tennessee State

Individual champion: Colin Dutton, UNCG

Potential at-large teams: Furman

Need to know: ETSU shot 14 under to break out of a tie with UNCG and win its fifth straight SoCon title and 25th overall. The Bucs also did it with a completely new starting five from last year and a first-year head coach (Aaron O’Callaghan). ETSU rose to No. 87 in the rankings with its win, so it needed to win the AQ to qualify for NCAA regionals. Furman finished fifth but is still ranked 67th, so it’s currently barely holding onto an at-large bid.

resize (15).webp

Missouri Valley

April 20-22, Des Moines CC, West Des Moines, Iowa

Final results

Team champion: Illinois State

Individual champion: Trey Wall, Murray State

Potential at-large teams: None

Need to know: TJ Barger birdied six of his last 11 holes to shoot 68 and lead Illinois State to a come-from-behind win for its second MVC title in the past three seasons. April 17-19, Walt Disney World Resort (Magnolia), Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Final results

Team champion: Fairfield

Individual champion: Tadgh Burke, Fairfield

Potential at-large teams: None

Need to know: Fairfield shot 1 under in the final round to move past Sacred Heart and win by two shots. It’s Fairfield’s first MAAC title since the program’s first in 1997. That year, however, the Stags did not receive an NCAA regional berth, so this year will be their regional debut.

Final results

Team champion: Florida A&M

Individual champion: Sascha Robinson, Florida A&M

Final results

Team champion: Xavier

Individual champion: Emma Welch, Xavier

Potential at-large teams: None

Need to know: Xavier’s 23-shot victory, which featured all five Musketeers in the top 8, marked the program’s record sixth straight Big East title. It was also the largest margin of victory at this championship since 2003. Welch also defended her individual title, joining Creighton’s Katharine Lemke (2022, 2023) as the only two-time Big East champs.

Final results

Team champion: Oregon

Individual champion: Kiara Romero, Oregon

Potential at-large teams: USC, Northwestern, Ohio State, Michigan State, UCLA, Purdue, Illinois

It’s Oregon’s second conference title in school history following the 2022 Pac-12 Championship. Romero becomes the third individual conference champion in school history. Illinois, currently ranked No. 52 nationally, finished third to likely clinch an at-large berth. UCLA also will be dancing as the Bruins finished seventh to finish one win above .500. Washington, meanwhile, wasn’t as lucky as the No. 58 Huskies, already on the bubble, dropped below .500 to put an end to longtime head coach Mary Lou Mulflur’s career. No. 59 Maryland also finishes below .500.

Patriot League

April 18-20, Saucon Valley CC, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania

Final results

Team champion: Navy

Individual champion: Emma Tang, Navy

Individual champion: Hannah Lydic, Richmond

Potential at-large teams: None

Need to know: Loyola-Chicago shot 38 over in the final round to fall from first to third while Richmond took advantage with a 12-over closing score to win by eight shots over Dayton. The Demon Deacons then took Florida State to the brink, leading 2-1 and with the other two final matches tied late, but the Seminoles got 18th-hole wins from Kaylah Williams (birdie) and Alexandra Gazzoli (par), who each won their matches, 1 up, to give Florida State its first ACC title in program history. Twelve of the ACC’s 15 teams will likely go dancing, though Miami is right on the bubble. Clemson, an NCAA match play qualifier last year, finished under .500.

Gamecocks’ senior Louise Rydqvist went 3-0 in match play and won her final match with a 60-foot birdie make on the 17th hole, which capped her rally from 1 down through 12 holes against Florida’s Addison Klonowski. Freshman Eila Galitsky also went 3-0 for South Carolina. The SEC should get 12 of 16 teams into NCAA regionals. Kentucky, Alabama and Georgia all finished below .500.

Mountain West

April 15-17, Mission Hills CC, Rancho Mirage, California

Final results

Team champion: UNLV (won in playoff)

Individual champion: Lucia Lopez Ortega, San Jose State

Potential at-large teams: San Jose State

Need to know: UNLV and San Jose State faced off in the first playoff in Mountain West Championship history after they each shot 18 over, seven shot ahead of Nevada. The Rebels prevailed in extras for their eighth Mountain West title and first since 2018, though the Spartans will also qualify for NCAA regionals as an at-large after earning enough wins to push themselves back over the .500 mark.

resize (8).webp

Sun Belt

April 14-17, Lakewood GC, Point Clear, Alabama

Final results

Team champion: Southern Miss

Individual champion: Momoka Ando, Southern Miss

Potential at-large teams: Georgia Southern

Need to know: Georgia Southern beat Southern Miss by 10 shots in stroke play, though it was the Golden Eagles who got the better of the regular Eagles in match play. Southern Miss won the final match, 3-2, to grab its first-ever conference crown and NCAA regional berth – and in the first year of head coach Colton Cowan. Georgia Southern, at No. 33 in the national rankings, will still advance to regionals, likely as the top-ranked mid-major program, though No. 104 Southern Miss’ inclusion means the magic number shrinks.

Big 12

April 15-17, Houston Oaks GC, Hockley, Texas

Final results

Team champion: Arizona (won in playoff)

Individual champion: Sophie Bert, Kansas State

Potential at-large teams: Arizona State, TCU, Kansas, Kansas State, Houston, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, UCF, Baylor, BYU

Need to know: Four teams had a chance to win on the final hole, including TCU, which led late before playing the 18th in 4 over and finishing a shot out of a three-team playoff featuring Oklahoma State, Arizona State and Arizona. The Sun Devils climbed five spots on the final day while the Wildcats rose four. Arizona then edged its in-state rival and fellow Big 12 newcomer by a shot in overtime, while Oklahoma State was two shots higher than Arizona. The Wildcats’ Big 12 title is their first conference crown since the 2015 Pac-12 Championship. Bert won by two shots over teammate Carla Bernat, the recent ANWA champ, and Arizona State’s Beth Coulter and Arizona’s Nena Wongthanavimok. The Big 12 will likely get 11 teams in NCAA regionals, including Baylor, which finished 11th to finish exactly at .500. Texas Tech placed 12th, though after entering the championship ranked No. 61, a spot outside the current magic number, it’s unlikely the Red Raiders, who are hosting a regional, will end up inside the final number.

Final results

Team champion: Radford

Individual champion: Julia McLaughlin, High Point

It then knocked off High Point and then top-seeded Charleston Southern, each by a score of 3-1, to win the program’s first Big South title and earn its first-ever NCAA regional berth. McLaughlin, who started her career at Wake Forest, birdied each of her last two holes to win by two shots.

GosGDAwXAAAGfT9.jpeg

Conference USA

April 14-16, World Golf Village, St. Augustine, Florida

Final results

Team champion: Western Kentucky

Individual champion: Sydney Hackett, Western Kentucky (won playoff)

Potential at-large teams: None

Need to know: Hackett defeated New Mexico State’s Emma Bunch, a two-time winner this season, in a playoff, though Bunch should qualify for an NCAA regional individually. The Hilltoppers, who won a school-record three times during the regular season, now have their first-ever conference title and NCAA regional berth.

American Athletic

April 14-16, Southern Hills Plantation, Brooksville, Florida

Individual champion: Romaine Masserey, Tulsa

Potential at-large teams: East Carolina

Need to know: This is Tulsa’s first AAC crown since 2021, though the Golden Hurricane are looking to advance to the NCAA Championship for the third straight season. This win was a crucial one, too, as Tulsa was 11 wins under .500 entering conference, meaning if it didn’t win the AQ, it’s season was over.

Final results

Team champion: Cal State-Fullerton

Individual champion: Kaitlyn Zermeno Smith, Cal State-Fullerton

Potential at-large teams: UC Davis

Need to know: Fullerton, ranked No. 76 in the country, will likely steal an at-large bid after running away with the school’s first Big West title since the program was reinstated in 2009. It’s the Titans’ first NCAA regional qualification, too, as the school shuttered women’s golf for over two decades after the 1985-86 season. UC Davis, 14 shots back in second, should get an at-large bid, though at No. 56 in the country right now, it will be close.
