After entering with momentum from a top-10 finish at Bay Hill, Thorbjorn Olesen withdrew from the Shell Houston Open because of injuries sustained in a car crash earlier this week.

'Pulled out of Shell Houston Open gutted. Doc's advice,' Olesen wrote Friday on Twitter. 'Had car crash on Wed night. Wrecked my car. Got whiplash. Hope I'm ok for Augusta.'

After finishing solo seventh at last week's Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Dane struggled to a 10-over 82 Thursday that had him in last place among those who completed their first rounds at Redstone Golf Club. He withdrew Friday in advance of his afternoon tee time.

Questions remain about how fit the 23-year-old will be for the Masters in two weeks, when Olesen is slated to make his first career appearance at Augusta National. He tied for ninth at the British Open last July in just his second career major start, and followed that with a tie for 27th at the PGA Championship the following month. Earlier this season he notched a pair of high finishes on the European Tour, tying for second at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and finishing tied for third at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
