With the 2013 edition of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans set to begin Thursday morning, the insurance company announced it has signed a five-year extension to continue its role as title sponsor of the event through 2019.
'The Zurich Classic has paid dividends on many levels and I am confident that Zurich's bonds with New Orleans will grow even stronger in the years ahead,' explained Zurich Insurance Group CEO Martin Senn during the announcement.
Zurich became title sponsor of the PGA Tour's lone Louisiana-based event in 2005, and an extension signed in 2009 carried its sponsorship through 2014. As title sponsor, the insurance group has worked with the Fore!Kids Foundation to help support youth-focused charities and junior golf initiatives in the New Orleans area.
'This is much more than a title sponsorship; it's a true collaboration,' noted Steve Worthy, the foundation's CEO. 'It's a special relationship between Zurich, the Fore!Kids Foundation and the city of New Orleans.'
