OAKMONT, Pa. – Play is scheduled to resume at 7:30 a.m. ET in Round 1 of the U.S. Open.

Thunderstorms suspended play three times on Thursday at Oakmont, halting play for good at 4:34 p.m. The first two delays totaled three hours and 45 minutes of downtime, in between stops and starts.

Andrew Landry leads the field at 3 under par, with a 10-foot putt for birdie remaining on his final hole, the par-4 ninth. Only nine players have completed their rounds.

Friday’s weather forecast calls for showers in the early-morning hours, but clear for the majority of the day. If Mother Nature cooperates – and the grounds crew can get the course in playing condition quickly – Round 2 is expected to begin around 1:45 p.m. Saturday’s third round would involve threesomes off split tees, in hopes of avoiding a Monday finish – aside from an 18-hole playoff.

The weather forecast for the weekend (and Monday) is positive, as well.

According to the second-round tee times posted by the USGA, the final group is slated for a 9:42 p.m. start. Sunset is scheduled for 8:52 p.m.
