If it ain't broke: U.S. keeps similar lineup for fourballs


INCHEON, South Korea – Day 1’s action dictated both captains' lineups for Friday’s fourball session, with Jay Haas largely keeping with the teams that lifted the U.S. to a 4-1 lead and Nick Price scrambling to answer the American onslaught.

Here are times for the Day 2 fourball matches. Coverage begins at 8:30 p.m. ET on Golf Channel. (All times below are Eastern)

Match 6, 8:35 p.m.: 

Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson (U.S.) vs. Louis Oosthuizen and Branden Grace (INT): It's world No. 1 Spieth and DJ vs. the only International team to earn a point on Day 1.

“He’s going for the kill,” Price said of Haas’ decision to send his best teams out early. “He wants to shut this down fast. I would do the same thing.”

Match 7, 8:50 p.m.:

Rickie Fowler and Jimmy Walker (U.S.) vs. Sangmoon Bae and Danny Lee (INT): Fowler and Walker are undefeated in five team matches dating to last year’s Ryder Cup. Bae is the only South Korean player in the field; though, Lee was born in Incheon.

Match 8, 9:05 p.m.:

Zach Johnson and Phil Mickelson (U.S.) vs. Adam Scott and Jason Day (INT): Johnson and Mickelson defeated Day and Steven Bowditch on Thursday. Day and Scott, on paper, is the International side’s best team.

Match 9, 9:20 p.m.:

Bubba Watson and J.B. Holmes (U.S.) vs. Marc Leishman and Steve Bowditch (INT): It's American big hitters vs. an all-Australian team.

Match 10, 9:35 p.m.:

Bill Haas and Chris Kirk (U.S.) vs. Charl Schwartzel and Thongchai Jaidee (INT): The anchor match.

Matt Kuchar and Patrick Reed, the only American team to lose on Day 1, will sit out Friday’s matches for the U.S. and Anirban Lahiri and Hideki Matsuyama, whose loss on Thursday dropped him to 1-3-1 in Presidents Cup team play, will also miss the second session.
