INCHEON, South Korea – Danny Lee was 3 over par on the holes he completed during his Day 2 fourball match with partner Sangmoon Bae, but the New Zealander didn’t lose his sense of humor on Friday.
“I didn't have my best game today. Sangmoon played awesome today. He made a lot of birdies,” Lee said. “Thank God I was playing with Sangmoon today. I’m pretty sure I helped a couple holes, but not that much.”
The International duo won the match in dramatic fashion, with Bae converting an 11-footer for birdie at the last for a 1-up victory. It was the only time Lee and Bae, who were 2 down through eight holes, led all day.
Lee’s frustrations were evident on numerous holes as he tossed his putter after missing crucial putts, and after playing Lee the first two days International captain Nick Price decided to sit him out of Saturday’s foursome session.
“I was very frustrated out there. I was very frustrated that I couldn't help my team. And that's why I probably threw my putter a couple times . . . only a couple times,” Lee said.
