Love elected PAC chairman for 2015

A good week got better Wednesday for Davis Love III.

Already tabbed as the presumptive Ryder Cup captain for the Americans in 2016, the PGA Tour announced that Love has been elected as chairman of the 16-member Player Advisory Council (PAC) for the 2015 calendar year.

Voting ended on Feb. 17, with Love topping Webb Simpson and Kevin Streelman for the position. The PAC consults with the Tour's Policy Board and commissioner Tim Finchem on issues affecting the Tour. After serving as chairman this year, Love will begin a three-year stint as a player director on the Policy Board in 2016, replacing Harrison Frazar. Other current player directors include Jason Bohn, Mark Wilson and Bo Van Pelt.

Love captained the U.S. Ryder Cup squad in 2012, and Golf Channel insider Tim Rosaforte reported Monday that the 50-year-old will lead the team again next year at Hazeltine. A formal announcement from the PGA of America regarding the captaincy is expected next Tuesday at the Honda Classic.

Other members of the PAC for 2015 include Matt Kuchar, Charley Hoffman, Geoff Ogilvy, Freddie Jacobson, Jason Gore, John Senden, David Toms, Brendon Todd, Will MacKenzie, Scott Langley, Billy Hurley III, Tom Gillis and Heath Slocum.
