It’s never good to hit a spectator. But it’s even worse when that spectator is another Tour player’s mother. Unless she re-directs the ball back into the fairway. Then it’s all good.
Let’s try that again.
Graeme McDowell on the seventh hole on Sunday missed the fairway and hit a fan. That fan happened to be the mother of tournament leader Kevin Kisner.
These tweets from the PGA Tour, including McDowell’s comments to Kisner’s mother, who can be seen icing her ankle, sum up the situation nicely:
G-Mac's tee shot at 7 bounced off a fan's ankle back into the fairway. The fan? Kevin Kisner's mom. (She's OK!) pic.twitter.com/AcvS8IlDYt

"Kevin's gonna be pissed. You did a good job though."
