AUGUSTA, Ga. – Ryan Moore doesn’t believe in jinxes.

Directly after posting a winning score of 6 under in the Par 3 Contest, he laughed away any notion that it could hamper his chances in the actual Masters Tournament – even though no player has ever pulled off the double-title in tournament history.

“No, of course not,” he said of that notion. “I think it’s a great thing to do.”

The truth is, it could have been better.

Moore carded six birdies during the nine-hole round, but missed putts of 4 feet on the second hole, 8 feet on the third hole and 9 feet on the eighth hole.

“I legitimately could have shot 9 under,” he insisted.

The performance also wasn’t pure coincidence, either. Moore holed two shots from about 60 yards during Tuesday’s practice round and is feeling good from close range.

“I’ve been working on my wedge game lately,” he said, “so this is good to see.”
