Augusta National files plans to renovate clubhouse

Augusta National is getting another facelift.

The Augusta Chronicle reported Sunday that, according to plans filed with the city of Augusta, the famed club plans to make major renovations to the existing clubhouse, including an addition.

Among the changes, according to the report: “demolish a portion of the existing building, including the kitchen area, and an adjacent building on the northeast side of the clubhouse to make way for the new structure,” which apparently will be “a large, two-level structure.”

Augusta National spokesman Steve Ethun declined to comment on the report, according to the Chronicle, citing club policy.

The club’s last significant remodel was in 2003, with enhancements to the grill room and locker room.
