Na Yeon Choi may lead going into Sunday's final round of the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, but she knows there’s a red-hot player in close pursuit.
Choi posted a 3-under-par 68 Saturday at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club in a bid to defend her title there, but she couldn’t build more than a two-shot lead with Inbee Park making birdies at six of the last seven holes to equal the day’s low round of 65.
Park won the Evian Masters in late July and has been knocking on the door to another victory in every start since. Her last five LPGA finishes are: Win, T-3, T-2, 2nd, 2nd. She hasn’t finished outside the top 10 in her last nine LPGA events. That’s helped her seize the lead in tour money winnings.
“I try not to think about winning,” Park said in her post-round interview session. “I just play my game that I've been playing lately. I'll just keep trusting myself shot by shot.”
Choi has more than Park to worry about. Hall of Famer Karrie Webb is four shots back with Japan’s Ai Miyazato and Suzann Pettersen each five back.
