Snedeker concludes long stretch of playing

MEDINAH, Ill. – The hottest player on the U.S. Ryder Cup team may also be the most exhausted, not that there seems much chance fatigue will factor into rookie Brandt Snedeker’s week.

The energetic Snedeker has played 11 of the Tour’s last 12 events including this week’s Ryder Cup, a run that stretches back to The Greenbrier Classic and features just one missed cut (PGA Championship) and one missed tournament (John Deere Classic) since early July.

That is a lot of golf for any player, particularly one that has endued consecutive off-seasons with major hip surgeries and missed six weeks at the beginning of this season after straining a rib at the Heritage.

But if Snedeker, who has just two starts (Tiger Woods' World Challenge and Franklin Templeton Shootout) scheduled the rest of the year, is running on fumes it wasn’t showing at Medinah.

Following his victory on Sunday at the Tour Championship, a haul that netted $11.44 million in cash and bonuses, he drove home to Nashville, Tenn., arriving at 11 p.m., and was on a 1 p.m. flight to Chicago on Monday.

On Tuesday he played just nine holes in practice and went straight to the gym, per his normal tournament-week routine.

“He works out every day,” said Randy Myers, Snedeker’s fitness coach. “He’s more regimented than anyone out here. He feels like he’s finally healthy and he knows how important it is to get his rest and limit his practice time.”
