Jeter comes clean about hole-in-one that wasn't

Back in April, we brought you this video of Derek Jeter maybe, but probably not hitting a hole-in-one at his charity golf tournament in Las Vegas.

Love my job!!! Hole in one by #DerekJeter...or is it? #DJCI #Turn2is20 #Turn2 #DJCI2016

A video posted by Sharlee Jeter (@sjeter2) on

The video was just a little too perfect, with the former New York Yankees captain laughing on the tee and the crowd following him yelling "It's in the hole!" as soon as the ball leaves the club face.

That and the fact that we never actually saw the ball go in.

As with almost everything in life that seems too good to be true, it was.

Jeter went on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" on Tuesday and came clean about the shot, saying that he was going through a swing change and hitting the ball terribly that day, and his group was just having a good time with the video.

If it's any consolation, he did say the shot was his best of the round, it just didn't happen to go in the hole.

Check out the full interview below. The hole-in-one chatter begins at the 1:44 mark.
