WME | IMG confirmed Thursday that it has acquired golf talent agency Icon Sports Management, which represents such players as world No. 2 Henrik Stenson, Ian Poulter and Kevin Streelman.
IMG’s golf division, based in Cleveland, has grown steadily since WME (William Morris Endeavor) took over the company last year. This latest news follows the recent additions of Patrick Reed, Hideki Matsuyama and Lydia Ko to the WME | IMG client portfolio.
“Over the past two decades, Icon has blossomed into a premier agency with the respect of everyone in the golf industry,” said Guy Kinnings, IMG’s global head of golf. “Today’s announcement further signals the growth that our golf division has enjoyed recently, and we are excited to carry this momentum through 2015 and beyond.”
