Already with a major title to his credit, WGT user poldimaier cruised to victory at the Kiawah Championship, the first major championship of the 2015 WGT Virtual Tour season.
Poldimaier won last year's Virtual U.S. Open, and last month he posted rounds of 54-53-56 for a three-round total of 163, four shots clear of seven other players to take top honors in the Tour Legend tier. Other tier winners included akash1592 (Legend), enormusjonson (Tour Master), kurtschori (Master), xlviii (Tour Pro) and themistroe12 (Pro).
Bolstered by his victory, poldimaier also took home the top spot in the Tour Legend tier for the Jan.-March quarterly season. That earned him a spot in the first-ever quarterly championship, where he will play for an additional 10,000 WGT credit in a winner-take-all match that will be streamed live on Twitch.tv.
As the calendar flips to April, the WGT Virtual Tour turns its attention to the Transamerica Challenge at famed Bethpage Black, host of the U.S. Open in both 2002 and 2009. Players have until April 25 to post their best opening-round score, then will have only one chance from April 26-30 to post a second-round score. The top 70 players in each tier will split a 200,000 WGT credit purse, with all finishes counting toward the second quarterly race that will run through June.
