Patrick Reed withdraws from BMW PGA Championship

'Nothing but fresh air': Reed works himself out of the woods at Wentworth
Patrick Reed opened the second round of the BMW PGA Championship with a pair of wayward drives. His second one left him with a challenging lie that required some precision through the trees.

A triple to start the day and a pair of doubles and two more additional bogeys was enough carnage for Patrick Reed to call it a day at Wentworth.

Reed carded a front nine 44 without a birdie on Friday before riding off in a cart near the tee box on the par-3 10th hole.

Commentators wondered if the 2018 Masters winner had hit a root when trying to work himself out of the woods on the previous hole.

He was seen flexing his left hand on the broadcast as he walked behind the cart and then again as he sat down in it.

The DP World Tour reported on X that the withdrawal came from an injury.

The trouble-filled second round for Reed followed a 4-under 68 on Thursday that saw him just two shots off the lead.

Reed, who has played 17 DP World Tour events in 2026, sits No. 1 in the Race to Dubai standings. He finished T-2 at last week’s Irish Open.
