Report: DPWT informs Bryson DeChambeau he’s got full status for 2027, if he wants it

Could Bryson DeChambeau be headed to the DP World Tour?

As DeChambeau’s former employer LIV Golf enters liquidation, the Telegraph is reporting that DeChambeau’s team has been informed by the DP World Tour that the two-time U.S. Open champion would have full playing privileges on the European circuit in 2027 should he decided to apply for membership.

DeChambeau has not formally announced his plans, though the report notes that he’d have until Nov. 14 to submit his membership application.

The specific exemption is Category 1, which is extended to winners of majors and the Race to Dubai in the past seven years. DeChambeau and 2022 Open champion Cameron Smith are eligible via that category, as is Jon Rahm, who has already announced his intentions to compete on the DP World Tour full-time in 2027.

Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton and Sergio Garcia are among a handful of players who have already announced their plans to return to the DP World Tour. Meanwhile, DeChambeau was among several top players that LIV was attempting to sign on for its new iteration, dubbed LIV 2.0, but before the league could secure a full roster, BC Partners pulled its $300 million investment.

DeChambeau has been mum on his future with the league, though he did recently express some confidence that LIV 2.0 would have staying power.

“The business model makes a lot of sense, and we’re actually working through that right now for this new model where it will make full financial sense,” DeChambeau said on the Figuring Out podcast. “It’s no funny business, no nothing. It’s going to be done right. And this is going to be a league, hopefully, that exists forever.”

The PGA Tour offered Brooks Koepka a direct path back to the its circuit earlier this year, though PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp has since been adamant that the Returning Members Program, which was available to DeChambeau at the time, was a one-time offer.
