Shaun Norris shared the lead entering the back nine Sunday at the DP World Tour’s Nexo Championship when he was assessed a two-stroke penalty.
The penalty stemmed from his action on the fifth hole, where he kicked a replaced divot from under his feet while setting up to hit his second shot at the par 4. That was deemed to have improved his stance, violating Rule 8.1 in the Rules of Golf.

Norris led by two shots overnight, having made an albatross in the second round. After a bogey on the third hole and birdie on the fourth Sunday, he shared the lead at 9 under.
Norris stayed on that number and as a co-leader through the turn, where he was told of the infraction by a tournament official while going from the ninth green to the 10th tee. While in the 10th fairway, broadcast announcers informed viewers of the penalty the turned a par at the fifth into a double bogey.
Norris dropped to 7 under, two off the pace. He made a birdie at the 11th, but doubled the par-4 12th to fall five back of Scott Jamieson, who birdied Nos. 7, 8, 10 and 11.
