GREENSBORO, Ga. -- Ryan Benzel won the final three holes to earn an unlikely halve Sunday, and American club pros remained unbeaten on home soil with a 13 1/2 -12 1/2 victory over Great Britain & Ireland in the PGA Cup.
Benzel, a club pro in Bothell, Wash., appeared headed for a loss until taking the last three holes to earn a half-point against English pro Paul Wesselingh. That was enough to give the United States a victory on The Oconee Course at Reynolds Plantation.
Chris Starkjohann and Chip Sullivan, who went 2-0 as partners on Saturday, each won their singles match for the United States.
The United States has a 15-5-3 lead in matches between club pros that date to 1973.
