Baddeleys parents Aussie home gutted by fire

MELBOURNE, Australia – The Melbourne home of golfer Aaron Baddeley’s parents has been destroyed by fire.

Wonga Park Country Fire Authority captain Kingsley Allen says the house was ablaze when emergency crews arrived early Wednesday, and 50 fire fighters took an hour to bring it under control.

A 60-year-old male occupant was treated for burns on his foot, Allen says. There were no suspicious circumstances, he said, estimating the damage bill at about $800,000.

Allen says among the items saved were “multiple sets of golf clubs, trophies, photos and awards.”

Baddeley beat Vijay Singh by two strokes to the win Northern Trust Open two weeks ago, the 29-year-old Australian’s first win on the PGA Tour in more than four years.
