JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – Tim Clark is going to the Presidents Cup – but not to play.

Clark, who has not been able to compete most of the year because of an injury to his left elbow, agreed Tuesday to be an assistant captain under Greg Norman when the Presidents Cup is played Nov. 17-20 in Australia.

The South African is still No. 9 in the International team standings, and the top 10 on Sept. 18 automatically qualify for the team. Clark says he realizes his elbow will keep him from playing, so he’ll go to Royal Melbourne to help in other ways.

Norman made the announcement Tuesday during a meeting of potential International team members.

Clark has played in three Presidents Cup matches and has compiled a 5-2-8 record.
