RIO DE JANEIRO – Colombian Mariajo Uribe shot a 6-under 66 to defeat Australian Lindsey Wright by a stroke in the final round of the LPGA Tour’s Brazil Cup on Sunday.
Uribe, last year’s runner-up in the 36-hole event, made seven birdies and a bogey to finish at 9-under at the Itanhanga Golf Club.
Uribe was 5-under after the first seven holes on Sunday, then picked up two more birdies and a bogey on the back nine before finishing with four straight pars to secure the victory in the 30-player exhibition tournament.
Wright shot a 4-under 68 to finish second. She birdied No. 17 but was not able to make a charge in the final hole.
First-round leader Heather Bowie Young of the United States followed her 66 on Saturday with an even par round that left her tied for fourth.
