Goosen Falls in Suntory Open

INZAI, Japan -- Japan’s Hideki Kase captured the Suntory Open on Sunday, with two-time U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen seven strokes back.

Goosen closed with a 3-under-par 67 but couldn’t catch Kase, who had a 65 to finish at 13-under 267. Goosen started the day five shots off the lead. He bogeyed the first hole but regrouped with four birdies for a four-round total of 274.

‘I didn’t play as good as I would have liked,’ the South African said. ‘There are a lot of good players on the Japanese Tour, and like everywhere else in the world you have to be on top of your game to win here.’

Third-round leader Y.E. Yang of South Korea shot a 70 and was at 272.
