Grand Slam of Golf Changes Dates

HONOLULU, Hawaii -- The Grand Slam of Golf, which brings together the PGA Tour’s four major champions, has been switched to Thanksgiving week.

The 36-hole tournament, featuring Masters champion Phil Mickelson, U.S. Open winner Retief Goosen, British Open champion Todd Hamilton and PGA winner Vijay Singh -- was originally scheduled for Dec. 3-4 at the Poipu Bay Golf Course on Kauai.

The event will now be played Nov. 23-24, according to a PGA of America’s Web site. No reason for the switch was given.

The Grand Slam of Golf was held during Thanksgiving week from 1999-2002. Last year’s event was conducted in early December.

The tournament offers a $1 million purse.
