ORLANDO, Fla. ' Tiger Woods was in the water, in the trees and in a foul mood. Eight consecutive one-putts, including four straight birdies, changed his fortunes Thursday in the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Woods, the defending champion and a five-time winner at Bay Hill, shot a 2-under 68 that left him two shots out of the lead shared by Tim Herron and Jeff Overton.
In his third tournament since an eight-month layoff following reconstructive knee surgery, Woods picked a good time to see a few putts drop. After scrambling through the front nine, a string of four birdies starting at the 11th hole put Woods name on the leaderboard for the first time this year.
He played with British Open and PGA champion Padraig Harrington, who opened with a 70, and Mark Wilson, who topped them both with a 67.
