Schniederjans, Hagy paired during Palmer Cup opener

The Palmer Cup gets underway Thursday morning at Walton Heath Golf Club, with five foursomes matches.

Afternoon four-ball matches will begin shortly after the completion of first-round play in England.

The Palmer Cup is a Ryder Cup-style competition between the top college players from the United States and Europe. The U.S. leads the overall series, 9-7-1.

First-round pairings:

Trey Mullinax-Robby Shelton (U.S.) vs. Thomas Detry-Jon Rahm (Europe)

Rico Hoey-Jack Maguire (U.S.) vs. Ricardo Gouveia-Erik Oja (Europe)

Wyndham Clark-Anthony Maccaglia (U.S.) vs. Pep Angles-Louis Tomlinson (Europe)

Bryson Dechambeau-Stewart Jolly (U.S.) vs. Jack McDonald-James Ross (Europe)
