No. 1-ranked amateur Williams signs with Nike

Chris Williams will be dressed head-to-toe in Nike apparel when he makes his pro debut this week at the Travelers Championship.

The No. 1-ranked amateur in the world has joined the Nike stable, inking a multi-year deal to represent the company with clubs, ball, footwear, glove, apparel, headwear and accessories.

“Joining the Nike family is a dream come true,” he said in a statement. “They have the most talented athletes and I am excited to be a part of this elite group.”

Williams, who missed the cut at last week’s U.S. Open, recently earned the Ben Hogan Award as the top player in men’s college and amateur events.
