ORLANDO, Fla. – By most accounts, Keegan Bradley has had a successful 2013-14 season: six top-25 finishes in nine starts, highlighted by a tie for 10th in Malaysia.
For Bradley, though, close isn’t good enough. He wants the trophy.
“I’m really anxious to win a tournament, that’s for sure,” Bradley said after a 6-under 66 Saturday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. “I would love to get a win before Augusta, obviously. I think anybody would.”
Through three rounds at Bay Hill he’s in contention, trailing leader Adam Scott by three shots. They will form Sunday’s final pairing.
Bradley, 27, has three PGA Tour titles, but none since the 2012 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. He’s had a number of close calls since then, including runner-up finishes last year in Dallas and Akron.
“I’ve given myself a lot of great opportunities to win the last couple of years,” Bradley said. “It’s really, really tough to win out here.”
After watching Patrick Reed, Jimmy Walker and Harris English each win multiple events in recent months, Bradley hopes ending his drought could spark his own flurry of victories.
“It doesn’t take much to rattle off a couple,” Bradley said. “It’s such a fine line (between) winning and coming in 10th. Hopefully tomorrow I can shoot a low one and get it.”
