Hahn (65) hardly tired at Byron Nelson

IRVING, Texas – The AT&T Byron Nelson marks James Hahn’s sixth consecutive week competing on the PGA Tour, a streak that includes his victory two weeks ago at the Wells Fargo Championship.

Just don’t tell him he should be fatigued.

“I’m an athlete. I do work out a lot,” smiled Hahn, who shot 5-under 65 Thursday to sit two off the early lead.

Hahn is accustomed to these types of long stretches, quickly reminding reporters that he once played 15 events in 16 weeks on the Web.com Tour in 2011.

Hahn’s desire to keep playing is certainly understandable considering that before his unexpected breakthrough at Quail Hollow earlier this month he’d missed eight consecutive cuts.

Since that victory, however, he finished tied for 43rd last week at The Players and is back in contention this week at the Nelson.

“I can do six in a row no problem, just have to ask permission from my wife to be on the road for that long,” said Hahn, who was tied for second place early in the weather-delayed opening round. “It is grueling. When you’re missing cuts, you get the weekends off. It doesn’t really feel that long.”
