Hoffman rips USGA: U.S. Open ‘run by amateurs’

Thumbnail

The USGA took lots of criticism during last year’s U.S. Open at Chambers Bay. The hits keep coming at Oakmont, this time courtesy Charley Hoffman.

Hoffman, who won this year’s Valero Texas Open, took to Instagram on Friday night to “vent” about the way the USGA (without naming them specifically) was conducting the U.S. Open.

The full quote: “Just venting a bit. Can’t play a professional event run by amateurs. The PGA Tour staff is amazing week in and out. Hopefully one day we will separate ourselves.”

Hoffman is one of 47 players to complete two rounds at Oakmont. He has shot 72-74 and, at 6 over, is currently tied for 72nd.
