CROMWELL, Conn. – Trevor Immelman had made an albatross before Thursday – but it was hardly an official one.

“It was in a pro-am,” he remembered with a laugh. “I was playing off members’ tees, so I holed a 9-iron.”

Needless to say, his albatross in the opening round of the Travelers Championship was a little more impressive.

Immelman holed a 3-wood from 246 yards for a rare 2 on the par-5 hole.

“I saw it land and then I kind of lost it for a minute and then we saw it come over the hill. And I saw it disappear, yeah. Quite funny. I mean, it was raining pretty good at that point.”

It was the eighth albatross on the PGA Tour in the last three years and just the second this year, joining James Hahn, who made one at the Sony Open.
