Rory McIlroy has committed to play in the European Tour’s Dubai Desert Classic, scheduled for Jan. 29-Feb. 1.
Dubai was the site of McIlroy’s first pro title, in 2009. Last year he tied for ninth, finishing four shots back of Stephen Gallacher.
McIlroy begins his 2015 campaign next week at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
Other players who have committed to play in Dubai include Henrik Stenson, Sergio Garcia, Martin Kaymer, Graeme McDowell and Lee Westwood.
