There are plenty of stats that show Jordan Spieth had a very good Sunday at the Australian Open.
Start with his score: A bogey-free 63 in windy conditions at the Australian Golf Club. Nathan Holman (67) had the next-best score, and only eight players broke 70. He was also one of eight players to finish the tournament under par and the only one to reach double digits (-13).
Then there was the margin of victory – six strokes. That was nine better than world No. 3 Adam Scott and 15 strokes better than world No. 1 and defending champion Rory McIlroy.
But it was a tweet from McIlroy that really put Spieth’s win in perspective.

That’s high praise coming from the player of the year and a four-time major champion. He also knows a thing or two about winning comfortably. McIlroy won the 2011 U.S. Open and the 2012 PGA by eight shots.
