After one round in Dubai, it appears Ian Poulter and Brooks Koepka won’t reprise their Final Series duel.
Both players got off to ragged starts in the opening round of the season-ending DP World Tour Championship, but for decidedly different reasons.
A day after claiming he was “making inroads” with his putting, and after receiving a telephone lesson from Greg Norman, Poulter shot 75 and took to Twitter to vent his frustration:
Well that was great. 1 chip and putt for birdie on a par 5. And never hold another putt. Enough F&€¥+=¥$ said.

I am so F$€¥+$€$ pissed off right now. Missed 7 out of 8'putts from inside 10ft.

Perhaps he’ll be making another call to Norman shortly.
Koepka, meanwhile, wasn’t even sure he would be able to tee it up this week after coming down with food poisoning on Sunday, just hours after his Turkish Airlines Open victory. He has lost more than six pounds and didn’t play a practice round, and on Thursday he opened with a 6-over 78 to sit last in the 60-man field.
