SAN DIEGO – Players will once again go out in threesomes Sunday at the Farmers Insurance Open, where Gary Woodland will look to convert a 54-hole lead into his third career victory on the PGA Tour.
A winner last year in Reno, Woodland will play the final round alongside Australia’s Marc Leishman and Jordan Spieth, both of whom trail by one shot heading into the final round. The trio will begin off the first tee at 10:25 a.m. PT.
The penultimate group will tee off at 10:15 a.m. PT and includes Pat Perez, a graduate of nearby Torrey Pines High School, as well as Morgan Hoffmann and Rory Sabbatini. Perez and Hoffmann are tied for fourth at 6-under 210, two shots off the pace, while Sabbatini is among a large group of players tied for sixth at 5 under.
With 82 players making the 36-hole cut, a secondary cut was instituted to trim the field once again to low 70 plus ties following the third round. The group of nine players eliminated on Saturday as a result was headlined by world No. 1 Tiger Woods, who struggled to a 7-over 79 on a course where he has won eight previous times as a professional.
