SAN DIEGO – Not even Tiger Woods, who has had his fair share of injuries over the years, can truly relate to what girlfriend Lindsey Vonn is experiencing after she underwent another major knee surgery.

When Woods tore his ACL, in 2008, he was forced to miss nine months.

Vonn, an Olympic gold medalist, has to wait another four years before she can compete again on the biggest stage.

“To do it again, in successive years,” Woods said, “that’s tough.”

Woods said that Vonn can take solace in the fact that even though she can’t compete in this year’s Games, she’s still the first American woman to win gold in the downhill competition.

“Whether she competes this year or whether she competes four years from now, to be the first, no one can ever take that away from her,” he said.
