Woods has worst Players finish, but not worst score

When Tiger Woods completed his even-par 72 on Sunday for a four-round total of 3-over 291, he was headed for his worst finish - T-69 - in The Players Championship. His previous worst finish was a tie for 39th in 2003.

His 72-hole score was not his highest at TPC Sawgrass, however. He shot a 5-over 293 in 2005, a year in which he won the Masters and the British Open and returned to No. 1 in the world.

One statistic starkly illustrated how much of a toll injuries and swing issues have taken on Woods’ game in recent years. Sunday marked the first time he completed the final round of consecutive official PGA Tour starts since September 2013 (596 days).
