University of Florida head men’s golf coach Buddy Alexander announced Wednesday the men’s golf schedule for the 2004-05 season.

The Gators, who open their season on Sept. 17 in Dalton, Ga., have a tough schedule as they are slated to compete with many of the nation’s top teams in each tournament.

In the 2004-05 season, the Gators will host three events beginning with the co-hosted Gary Koch Invitational at Old Memorial in Tampa, Fla. (Oct. 11-12, 2004). After the Koch, the Gators in a joint effort with the Golf Coaches Association of America will invite the nation’s top teams to compete in the Hooter’s Match Play Championships at Mission Inn in Howie-in-the-Hills, Fla. (Nov. 14-16, 2004). In the spring, Florida will host the 28th Annual SunTrust Gator Invitational at the University Golf Course on Feb. 5-6, 2005.

Last season, the Gators earned a sixth place finish at the NCAA Championships while recording a second place finish in the SEC Championships. The Gator men recorded seven tournament victories, which is the second most tournament title wins in school history and added six additional top-five finishes in their 14 tournaments. The 13 top-five finishes last season established a new school record.

The Gators open the 2004-05 season at the Carpet Capital Collegiate in Dalton, Ga., on Sept. 17-19 at The Farm.
