Nobilo Chamblee Commit to Golf Channel Sign Multi-Year Exclusive Deals

ORLANDO , Fla. (Feb. 3, 2010) – Frank Nobilo and Brandel Chamblee, two of golf broadcasting’s most respected analysts, have extended their current contracts with Golf Channel, both agreeing to multi-year agreements that will keep them exclusively at the network through 2014.

Both Chamblee and Nobilo will continue to provide the Golf Channel audience with expert analysis both in studio and in the field for Golf Channel’s live tournament coverage of the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour, as well during the network’s special Live From weeks around golf’s biggest events.

“Not only are Brandel and Frank two of the best golfing minds in sports broadcasting, but they are passionate about the game and passionate about making the Golf Channel better,” said Tom Stathakes, Golf Channel senior vice president of Programming, Production and Operations. “We’re thrilled they will continue to be part of our team.”

Both Nobilo and Chamblee made smooth transitions from competition player to television analyst after distinguished careers on various professional circuits, and both have received critical acclaim along the way. Martin Kaufmann, television columnist for Golfweek magazine, recently tagged Chamblee as his favorite golf announcer, saying ‘Whether he’s working in the studio or the 18th tower, Chamblee’s take on issues is worth hearing. Thoughtful, provocative and persuasive.’ Sports Illustrated has describle Nobilo as ‘smart, respectful and respected’ and keeps current iwth the players on the PGA Tour.

Nobilo joined Golf Channel in 2003 following an esteemed international career that was cut short by injury. A veteran of several professional tours, Nobilo’s 14 victories around the world included two Sarazen World Opens and the 1997 Greater Greensboro Classic on the PGA TOUR. He played in numerous World and Dunhill Cups for his native New Zealand and also was a three-time member of the International Presidents Cup team. In 2009, he served as an assistant captain under Greg Norman for the Internationals.

After a 15-year PGA TOUR career that included more than $4 million in earnings, Chamblee made a full-time transition to Golf Channel’s broadcast booth in 2004. A three-time, All American out of the University of Texas, his career highlights include victories at the 1998 Greater Vancouver Open on the PGA TOUR and the Ben Hogan New England Classic on the Nationwide Tour in 1990. He joined the network as a lead analyst for its Champions Tour tournament coverage and studio shows after serving as a part-time golf commentator for ABC Sports in 2003.
