The last time Doris Chen squared off with Lauren Diaz-Yi was two months ago, with Diaz-Yi claiming the final of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links in a 10 & 9 rout. Friday at the U.S. Women’s Amateur, Chen extracted some revenge.

Leading for nearly the entire match, Chen defeated Diaz-Yi, 4 & 3, to advance to Saturday’s semifinals at the Country Club of Charleston (S.C.). A member of USC’s national title-winning team this spring, Chen held a 3-up lead after nine holes and coasted to victory from there.

The 20-year-old will square off with Yueer Cindy Feng, 17, who knocked out Chen’s USC teammate, Annie Park, in her quarterfinal Friday by a 6 & 4 margin. With the match all square after six holes, Feng won each of the next five holes to quickly take control of the match.

In the other semifinal Saturday, 18-year-old Allison Lee will face 19-year-old Emma Talley. Lee, who was the runner-up at the 2012 U.S. Girls’ Junior, won her quarterfinal over Katelyn Sepmoree, 4 & 3, while Talley survived a close match with Su-Hyun Oh, ultimately prevailing in 19 holes.

The semifinal matches will begin at 10 a.m. ET Saturday, with a 36-hole final planned for Sunday in Charleston.
