PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Fred Couples withdrew from The Players Championship this morning with a bad back.
Couples, 50, was scheduled this week to play for the seventh consecutive week. He won The Players in 1984 and ’96. He will be replaced in the field by Troy Merritt.
