Graeme McDowell on Sunday joined Tiger Woods as the only players who have won three or more times in 2013.
G-Mac is creeping toward Tiger in the world rankings, too.
With his third victory in his last eight worldwide starts, McDowell rose from ninth to sixth in the latest world rankings, released Monday. It’s his highest position since he was fifth in May 2011.
McDowell has been an all-or-nothing player since the Masters, going MC-Won-MC-Won-MC-MC-MC-Won.
Another player who had endured a turbulent stretch of late was Jonas Blixt, last year’s Frys.com Open winner who hadn’t recorded a top 10 this season before heading to The Greenbrier. With a Sunday 67 he earned his second title in the past nine months. As a result, he rose from 103rd to 51st in the rankings.
The top 10 in the OWGR: Woods, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Adam Scott, Matt Kuchar, McDowell, Brandt Snedeker, Phil Mickelson (from No. 6), Luke Donald (from No. 8) and Louis Oosthuizen.
