Golden moment

Few things in life, if any, have aged as well as Jack Nicklaus. Not cars or wine or even quarterbacks named Favre.

How much street cred does the Golden Bear, who turns 70 years young today, still have among the PGA Tour’s Gen X? Following his victory at last year’s Memorial tournament, Tiger Woods mingled with scribes following his formal press conference. We can count the number of times Woods has “scrummed” with reporters on one hand.

The heir apparent didn’t do it because of a newfound soft spot for the fourth estate. He did it because Nicklaus was standing next to him doing the same thing and those 18 majors aren’t the only reason the Golden Bear is golden.
